The bloodstone (Heliotrope or green jasper)

Saint Hildegarde poetically describes its formation: “bloodstone develops when the sun goes down towards its setting and when its brilliance is often obscured by clouds”. (Physica ch X)

Less well known than red jasper, green jasper, otherwise known as heliotrope, is said to have the same properties and virtues. The stone can be used in direct application on the skin or the nostrils, but for the auditory canal a pendant with chain (red jasper) is preferred.
