The Black Onyx

St Hildegarde poetically describes her formation: “It is about the third hour of the day when it forms, when the sun is very hot and at the same time all kinds of clouds are rising. It originates from the sun and takes shape thanks to the various kinds of clouds.” (Physica ch III)

Saint Hildegarde advises several uses for thr onyx, which correspond to different benefits. For example, the onyx can brighten eyesight or relieve sadness. In order to choose the right stone, it is important to determine its use beforehand.

For example, for onyx wine or onyx vinegar, polished stones or donut are preferred, and for bringing it to the mouth all stones are suitable.
